Why are Children becoming Obese?
Kids nowadays are becoming more and more overweight. This is now the controversial issue that people want to prevent.
According to this passage, children are possibly becoming obese is because they usually using technology such as computer games, PlayStation, and video games. However, children can be addicted to food. They eat a lot of unhealthy foods so; the amount of calories they take is increasing and can lead to diabetes. In addition, researcher said if the family typically eats at home it’s likely that their child won’t be overweight. However, there’s a greater chance that a family that eats outside will get bigger.
The most intriguing idea for me is “Exercise is as important for children as a good diet”. In other words, children have to train and work out physically for at least thirty minutes every day. Also, we have to teach them how to control and balance in foods. Furthermore, parents can prevent children from becoming obese by teaching them some activities like dancing.
This passage is related to my friend Dina. When she felt that her body was getting weaker and gained a lot of weight, she started healthy foods and exercising. However, her diet didn’t work. Then she went to a health center. Now, she learns a lot from those people who keep supporting her and she realize that exercise is important to our body.
There are many ways to control and balance our diet. So, if we start doing this good ways, we can live long and healthier. Exercise not only tones the muscle, but also refines the brain and revives the soul.

“Technology and the College Generation”
Have you ever used an email account to communicate with someone? Or have you ever used it in class to know whether you have homework or not. Well, there is some argument between faculty and college student about using email more often than social networking.
According to “Technology and the College Generation”, a professor at University of Texas preferred to use email to communicate with students rather than sending text messages or using other social networking. They notice that most of students spend their time looking into other social networking like Facebook and Instagram. That’s why; a lot of students are unprepared to take a quiz the day that the professor is given. However, students argued that using email is too boring and slow, so they prefer to use social networking. In addition, Morgan Judge, a sophomore at Fordham University, said that they could send text messages to as professor, but she thought that the professor will reply back about their school assignment. However, instead of sending them assignment, the professor replied to check their email account.
There are a lot of interesting ideas in this article, but for me the most intriguing idea is “Students must check email daily”. It’s easy to understand what is the professor point is, they doesn’t want students to use social networking instead of email because it’s a distraction. They just want to help students improve their awareness.
This idea is related to something that happened in my life. When I was in the Philippines, we used to send text messages to the teacher if we have homework or not. The teachers over there allowed us to use social network like Facebook, and we can also text them. By the time I got here in America, I was thinking that using email is too boring and not so interested to use for communicating with students. However, when the teachers encourage us not to use other social networking, I realize that using it is distracted to us. That’s why; we have to constantly check our email and do our work.
In my opinion, using email is beneficial for students because it can easily contact teachers to ask what students need in class for tomorrow or the next day. Students should be appreciated that they can use technology for communicating to teachers. If you used other social network, it will effect in your studies, especially when your professor gave you an activity because it will distract your concentration.
